Ubuntu 11.10 Oneric Ocelot Alpha 3 was released few weeks ago. I decided to properly install Ubuntu 11.10 Oneric in my notebook along with Ping-Eee OS this time around instead of just experimenting it with a USB install. I have been using Ubuntu 11.10 Alpha 3 as my primary OS for almost 2 weeks now and this is how I feel about it. Read on.

With the release of latest Alpha 3 version, Ubuntu 11.10 is a hugely transformed distro now. Ubuntu 11.10 Alpha 3 comes with Linux Kernel 3.0.0-7, Nautilus 3.1.4, Ubuntu Software Center 4.1.11, Banshee 2.1.0, Thunderbird 6.0, Firefox 6 from Mozilla beta channel, Unity 4.6.0 and GNOME Shell 3.1.3(it's in the repositories, not installed as default).

There were indications of a faster Unity UI in the earlier Alpha release itself, now it is becoming rather apparent. Unity is becoming faster, sleeker and snappier with each new release. But that doesn't mean that this latest alpha release is devoid of any bugs and imperfections. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of them.

Firefox is steadily improving, no question about that. The need for replacing Firefox with Chromium, as it was discussed during Ubuntu developer summit 2011, is becoming a non issue lately. And as we learned recently from the serious power usage spikes with Chromium, nobody's perfect. But now there is a strange and annoying bug that is interfering with Firefox's work flow. The funny thing is, Unity's latest feature addition is causing it.

That's the new window switcher for Ubuntu and it is currently mapped to Ctrl+Tab, which prevents you from browsing through opened tabs in Firefox(or in any other browser) using keyboard. I think this is some temporary arrangement and as soon as this window switcher application is mature enough, it will replace the current Alt+Tab.

The erratic behavior of Unity dash is another area of concern. But things are improving. A lot of important changes has happened with Ubuntu Software Center and Unity dash during the past few days. I intentionally excluded updates about those changes from this post to keep it strictly about Ubuntu Oneric Alpha 3. Anyway, that's pretty much what's new about Oneric Alpha 3. I will be updating about latest changes in another post soon. Stay tuned.

Hide Any Drive Through Command Prompt

Have you ever thought of hiding any drive from your system so that no one can knew about it. You may have heard or even used a lot of software’s that might be able to do that, but if you are GEEK like me and want to do things by your own without using any 3rd party software than this tutorial will show you how you can do it.

Well there are 3 ways of doing it, in this tutorial we are covering command prompt way of doing it.

How to do it:

Step 1. Open command Prompt, go to Start Menu > All Programs >Accessories > Command prompt

Step 2. In the Command Prompt, type Diskpart and hit enter key. If UAC (User Account Control), dialog-box prompts than click Yes.

Step 3. Then type List Volume and press enter, this will produce the list of all drives.

Step 4. Now select the drive which you want to hide, you can either do this by typing Select Volume 1 (i.e. Volume Number) or by typing Select Volume C(i.e. Drive letter)

Step 5. To hide a drive, type Remove Letter C. Here, C is the drive letter than you want to hide. You can use any drive letter you want.

Step 6. That’s it. You are done! C drive is now hidden

How to unhide hidden drive

Step 1. Open command Prompt, go to Start Menu > All Programs >Accessories > Command prompt

Step 2. In the Command Prompt, type Diskpart and hit enter key. If UAC (User Account Control), dialog-box prompts than click Yes.

Step 3. Then type List Volume and press enter, this will produce the list of all drives.

How to get the new Gmail preview pane

If you enjoy the three-pane look of a desktop e-mail client, but use Gmail, today is your day. Google just announced a new Labs feature, Preview Pane, allowing you to view and reply to e-mails while navigating your inbox. The feature is also available to Google Apps users.

As Google mentions, the new look will be familiar to iPad owners, who currently enjoy this three-pane view on their devices.

To get the new look, go to Gmail > Mail Settings (upper right) > Labs. Scroll down to "Preview Pane," enable it, and save your changes.

Once enabled, a new button will appear in the upper right of your inbox. To toggle between the old-fashioned Gmail inbox and the preview pane, click the button on the left.

You also have the option to arrange the preview pane vertically or horizontally, using the drop-down menu on the right.

Images of the new Nokia 700 handset prototype reveal some interesting details. The device has a 1 GHz processor, Symbian Belle update, NFC chip and 5 megapixel camera.
There are speculations that Nokia is about to release four new handsets powered by 1Ghz processors.The photos show it running on Symbian Belle -Anna's successor -and packed with a 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, and NFC support.According to the snapshot Zeta claims itself to be the "thinnest smartphone ever" but its 10mm thickness brings it nowhere close to the title. The Nokia 700 'Zeta' weighs just over 80 gms and has a 3.2 inch AMOLED screen, a much awaited feature in Nokia smartphones.

A smart device from LG that claims it to be the world’s first dual core powered device, is instead a considerable device when it comes to Android! With its 8MP Full HD capabilities, dual display and Nvidia Tegra 2 graphic chipset, it is a good choice for those who are looking to buy a phone priced at $500. But LG has not shown much of its potential in this phone, IPS LCD touchscreen isn’t as awesome as Retina display . 4.0 inches screen is a comfortable screen made with comfort as the main focus. At the price of $500 it isn’t a bad deal, though you can consider other 3 phones if you have a higher budget.

Motorola like LG has been launching good android mobiles in past but could not actually leave an impact on the market and user’s mind. But with Atrix, Motorola sure did it! Motorola Atrix is said to be Motorola’s most powerful Android phone yet. Features like Dual Core processor and a good 5 MP cam that could support Full HD recording are the high-lights. Not only that it houses a 1 GB RAM that can be utilized in future software updates to maximum. Atrix is launched with Android OS v2.2 and supports desirable flash 10.1 which is upgradable to v2.3 in future. Though this phone might be the most powerful android phone from Motorola but it isn’t the most powerful overall, with just 5 MP camera and good old TFT screen it doesn’t actually levels up with all its competitors which even pixalates on closer look. It also lacks basic radio FM feature. Not only that, phone doesn’t even operate when a sim card is absent, which is quite shocking for us. Atrix might be a choice for those who do not want to go for LG’s brand name and are willing a higher processor with RAM, keeping an eye on future updates!

A power packed Android phone coming from a world renowned company. A great phone recently launched priced at $600 with some awesome state of the art features such as S-LCD display and mediocre resolution is a blissful experience for eyes. A camera that shoots videos at 30fps even at 1080p is an added advantage for on the go directors and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with dedicated GPU from Qualcomm separates it apart from its counterparts. HTCsense as usual is targeted to make UX easier and better like never before. Sensation has so many features to be praised that, I personally would not like to point out the drawbacks, but there are a few major once. It suffers from a serious death grip issue with WiFi and although the screen is awesome inside but hard to read outside. Also even though it’s a 1.2 GHz dual core powered phone but still the performance lacks when compared to other competitors. 8MP camera is impressive but not as good as that of LG Optimus 2x. All in all it is worth the investment of $600 if you are a HTC fan.

Review

If you can afford a handset that is worth $700-$750 this phone becomes the obvious choice. It’s specification got my head to spin and will do so with yours. It’s super AMOLED screen works as awesome outside as it does inside, though with a smaller resolution. It’s image sensor with 8 MP is second to non and works flawlessly even at Full HD with 30fps. 1 GB RAM is something that you won’t find in any other model currently available in the market and which supports the heavy-duty processors very well. Audio quality is very good and supports standard 3.5 mm audio jack. It supports 21Mbps HSDPA and no death grip problem has been mentioned so far. But with advantages floating all around there are a few disadvantage which might turn you away if you are perfectionist and love things to be the same way – A plastic body steals away the credit and does not give phone a premium finish which should be worth an investment of $700+. Missing a camera button is again a disadvantage as the whole form factor is quite slim and it becomes difficult to take pictures and shoot videos.

In-spite of few disadvantages in Samsung’s Galaxy S II we rank it #1 because this post is about the most powerful android smartphone and so neglecting the form factor (which is the major disadvantage) this phone is the best smartphone available till now in Global Market.

One can have dual boot option on PC to boot multiple operating system on single computer.

For example, you can have Windows XP, Linux, Vista, Windows 7 etc on single PC by installing them in different partitions. But to have that dual configuration, you will have to install the latest version after the earlier ones. For example, you can have dual boot option if you have installed Windows 7 in different partition on a PC with already installed XP. But if you will install XP after Windows 7, boot screen will not see any option to start Windows 7. But there may be a situation where you need to install Windows XP on your pre-installed Windows 7 PC.

Note:I am assuming you have Windows 7 installed and then you have installed Windows XP

Steps to get dual boot on PC even Windows XP was installed after Windows 7

1. Start your computer (It will start with Windows XP)

2. Download Microsoft .net framework and install the same

3. Download and Install EasyBCD on your current Windows

4. Now use Add/Edit Entry to add Windows XP in the list. To do that, Select Windows NT/2K/XP in the type dropdown and type Windows XP in the name section

5. You may set the drive where XP is installed

6 Finally, you will have to “Write MBR” which is available under “Bootloader Setup” tab in the left navigation. select “Install the windows vista/7 bootloader to the MBR”.

Done. Now restart your computer and there you can see dual boot option for Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows XP. You can use EasyBCD for multiple boot options as well. For example, to have Ubuntu, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 on a single PC.

VLC media player is one of the most famous open source media players. Did you know that you can use VLC media player as a television and watch tv channels on it? In this post I will show you how you can do that with an easy tutorial. So, lets begin.
1. Open up VLC Media Player. Don’t have it installed? Download VLC player from here –> Link.

2. See the first option on the top? “Media”. Click it and then click the second last option from the drop down box, “Streaming”.
3. After clicking “Streaming” option, a new dialog box opens up which has 4 tabs. You have to select the third one –> “Network”.

4. Now you have opened the “Network” tab and have an empty box where you have to enter the network URL. For eg. rtsp://ss1c6.idc.mundu.tv:554/prf0/cid_4.sdp is the network URL of Aaj Tak.
5. After entering the network URL, click that downwards arrow(with the “Stream” button) and choose the “Play” option.
Thats it. Some 15-20 seconds later you will be able to watch the channel you have given the network URL for.

After the huge success of the Apple iPad , Apple Inc. (always a pioneer in technology ) has launched the next generation of iPad being called as iPad2 with loads of new features and innovations. It is confirmed that it is going to be much better. The first thing you will notice that it is 15% lighter and features two cameras , one on the front for a bigger better face time experience than Apple iPhone4 and a rear view camera for HD video recording. Here we discuss some of its features
1.iPad 2 is lighter and thinner
Apple called it an all-new design. And it is. The main physical thing is that the new iPad is thinner - 33 per cent thinner, clocking it at 8.8mm. Incredibly, that's thinner than the iPhone 4 which clocks in at 9.3mm. It's also 15 per cent lighter, which is welcome.
2. The iPad 2 has FaceTime
The new iPad has the expected front-facing VGA camera (as well as one on the back). What's the point of the one on the back? Like the iPhone 4's rear snapper, it takes 720p video (though has no flash unlike other tablets). And that's enough for us.
3. The iPad 2 battery life stays the same
The iPad 2's battery life is apparently not limited by the new design - it has the same 10 hour battery life as before, with a month of standby time Still, that's quite impressive when you think about the reduced size of the unit.

4. iPad 2 goes dual-core
A few months ago, a dual-core processor would have made headlines. Now they're 10-a-penny and in many an Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. The new processor is called the Apple A5 and is based on ARM's Cortex-A9 design. And it's probably clocked at 1GHz again.
5. iPad 2 graphics will be awesome
All Steve Jobs said was that the graphics capability would be 9x that of the current iPad. WOW! All he said? That promises serious gaming awesomeness (and it helps that the device now also has the gyroscope from the iPhone 4 and latest-gen iPod touch). The graphics will still be some version of Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX graphics technology.
6. iPad 2 has iOS 4.3

8. The iPad 2 features HSUPA
The iPad 2 also features HSUPA support. That means faster uploads over 3G. Like mobile broadband. It's only available on the iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, naturally. Expect this to come to the iPhone in the next update too.

We were expecting something dual core-ish from Motorola at CES after the leaks of the Olympus, and boy, did we get something to get excited about.
Motorola has thrown away the form book with the new Atrix, with a range of stunning specs to appease even the most hardcore user.

We’re talking a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with two 1GHz chips running in tandem to offer a judder-free existence and lower battery consumption, as well as 1GB of RAM to keep slowdown to a minimum.
The screen is very much next generation as well, with its qHD pixel count stuffed into a 4-inch display nabbing the title of the world’s highest-res screen from the iPhone 4.
And even though the dual core processor is supposed to help with the battery life, there’s still an industry-leading 1980mAh battery squashed in the back as well, with 16GB of storage ably backed up by a microSD for up to 32GB of extra space.
Hands on: Motorola Atrix review: Design
So with all that in mind, it’s actually very surprising to find that the Motorola Atrix doesn’t look like the ugliest phone in the world – it’s no great shakes in the style stakes, but it’s averagely attractive and won’t be the most horrendous fashion statement.
The overall design is very square and black – the front is dominated by the display, with the four front touch-sensitive buttons the only difference in furniture, as well as the VGA front-facing camera for video calling.
The back is reminiscent of mottled carbon fibre, with an attractive sheen and a decent grip level – nothing spectacular, but acceptable.

Given the large screen size, it’s good to note that the phone sits well in the hand, and the screen is mostly all in reach of a finger or thumb – some jiggling will be needed to pull down the top notification bar, but overall it’s not too bad and will suit most pockets and bags.
The thickness of 10.9mm is a massive surprise when you think about the innards – that battery pack puts the likes of the HTC Desire to shame, and will hopefully become the norm in more devices as we get used to ever-more power-hungry phones in the future.

VLC Player and its powers

1]- Rip DVDs: VLC includes a basic DVD Ripper.
You probably would nevr use it when there are better DVD rippers available, but it helps to know that you can in fact, get a decent quality DVD rip with VLC.
To rip a movie follow these steps: Go to the Media menu and choose Convert/Save. Click on the Disc tab.

* Here you can adjust the Starting Position and rip only specific titles or chapters.
* Enter file name making sure to end with .MPG, and start ripping.
* Click Save.

2]- Record videos: With the new VLC, you can record videos during playback. The record button is hidden by default. To see it, click on View>Advanced Control. The record button will now appear. Clicking on the button while playing a movie or video will start recording. Clicking again will stop recording.

3]- Play RAR files: Do you know VLC can play videos zipped inside RAR files? They play like normal video files and you can even use the seek bar. If the RAR file is split into several files, no problem. Just load the first part (.part001.rar ) and it will automatically take the rest of the parts and play the whole file.

4]- Play in ASCII mode: VLC media player has an amusing ability, to playback movies in ASCII art. To enable ASCII mode, open VLC media player and click on Tools>Preferences. Open the section “Video” section and under “Output” select “Color ASCII art video output” from the drop down menu. Save it. Now play any video file to enjoy the ASCII art.

5]- Listen to online radio: VLC includes hundreds of Shoutcast radio stations. You just need to enable it through Media>Services Discovery>Shoutcast radio listings. Now, open the Playlist and browse through the stations.

6]- Convert Audio and Video formats: In VLC you can convert video and audio files from one format to another. Several different formats are supported like MP4, WMV, AVI, OGG, MP3 etc. To access the converter:

* Go to Media>Convert/Save.
* Load the file you want to convert using the Add button and click Convert.
* Now choose the output format and output file location.

7]- Download YouTube and other online videos: First grab the URL of the YouTube video page. Now click on Media>Open Network stream. Paste the URL and click Play.
Once VLC starts streaming the video, click Tools>Codec Information and at the bottom of the window you will see a Location box. Copy the URL and paste it on your browser’s address bar. The browser will now download the file which you can save it to your hard disk. Alternatively, you can record the video.

The Apple iPad is widely accepted as the first successful tablet computer. It has sold 7.5 million as of 30 September 2010 according to Wikipedia. This figure is well above any of it's competitors. The iPad built upon the success of the iPhone and uses the same iOS operating system. It is only recently that there has been any real threat to the iPad's dominance and the release of the iPad 2 may seal the iPad's dominance in the tablet computer market.

But are there any real alternatives?

1. Samsung Galaxy Tab
This 7 inch Android powered tablet is currently the iPad's strongest competitor. It has many of the same features as the iPad and is around the same price. It's a well designed, professionally built tablet featuring, Wifi, 3G connectivity and a very responsive touchscreen. However it is powered by Android, an operating system created for much smaller devices. It also has very few apps that run on it as many Android developers have not embraced it. Although it is better than the iPad in some ways (it's smaller and lighter and has a micro SD card slot) it hasn't seen anything like the success of the iPad.

2. RIM BlackBerry PlayBook
Research in Motion (RIM) are a company which has seen little success in the touchscreen phone market. They seem very attached to the physical qwerty keyboard when all other manufacturers are moving to newer technology. Despite this fact they have decided to produce a touchscreen tablet known as the BlackBerry PlayBook. The PlayBook have joined Samsung in creating a 7 inch tablet which is also significantly smaller and lighter than the iPad. The PlayBook has front and rear facing cameras, a big advantage over Apple; on the other hand it will not feature 3G connectivity. The PlayBook is due to be shipped in early 2011.

3. Motorola Honeycomb Tablet

This tablet, which will be powered by the forthcoming , Android Honeycomb has just been announced. The name of this this tablet has not been announced by there are 3 possibilites: Stingray, Everest or Trygon. The hardware on this tablet will include a decent 32GB of flash memory and a 1GHz Tegra 2 T20 processor. This is a real iPad competitor as it will be the first tablet to use a version of Android created specifically for tablet computer.s

HP Slate.

There are other tablets on the market but they simply aren't up to the standard of these tablets. While the Galaxy Tab is a great product, it is ahead of Google and the operating system it's using just isnt suited to the larger screen size. The release of the PlayBook and the Android Honeycomb next year will cause some major shifts in the Tablet computing market.

Steps to do it........
1) Copy the give code in a note pad and save the note pad in your pc with the name lock.bat (that is with the extension of .bat). You can replace the lock portion with anything u want. (Default password is pass.Search for pass in the code and change it to whatever you want.)

2) A batch file will be created where you have saved. Now double click on it , it will make a folder with the name Locker at the same place where the batch file is save.If you want another name replca Locker in the code with the name you want.

3) Now add the files you want to be locked in that folder.

4) Double click on the batch file. It will ask for locking the folder formed. Type y(yes). The folder will be locked and hidden.

5) To unlock,double click on batch file again and enter the password in the new window opened.

How to hide a file in a image

1. Gather the file you wish to bind, and the image file, and place them in a folder. For the sake of this demonstration, I will be using
C:New Folder

-The image will hereby be referred to in all examples as image.jpg
-The file will hereby be referred to in all examples as New Text Document.txt

2. Add the file/files you will be injecting into the image into a WinRar .rar or .zip. From here on this will be referred to as (secret.rar)

3. Open command prompt by going to Start > Run > cmd

4. In Command Prompt, navigate to the folder where your two files are by typing
cd location [ex: cd C:New Folder]

5. Type copy /b image.jpg + secret.rar image.jpg

Congrats, as far as anyone viewing is concerned, this file looks like a JPEG, acts like a JPEG, and is a JPEG, yet it now contains your file.

In order to view/extract your file, there are two options that you can take

a) Change the file extension from image.jpg to image.rar, then open and your file is there.
b) Leave the file extension as is, right click, open with WinRar and your file is there.

In this way you can bind .exe files with any file.. happy hacking with binding exe files..

It involves making a new desktop.ini system file for that folder, and changing the attributes for that folder.
First, select the picture you want for that folder. It should be sized 815 x 685, or you will get tiles (of course, if you want tiles, use a smaller pic).

You can use your photo editor to crop and/or resize the pic appropriately.
Note the address of the pic. You will need that.Create a folder (in Documents) to store the desktop.ini file you will make, because it will replace the current system.ini of the folder it's in.

Now, open your notepad. Paste the following code into it.

If your PC has multiple users then you can now display legal notice to every user before they login to your PC. This legal notice will be displayed at every startup just before the Desktop is loaded. Using this you can tell your friends about the do’s and dont’s in your computer when they login in your absence. Well you can do this pretty easily. For this there is one small registry hack. Here is the step-by-step instruction to do this.
1. Go to Start->Run, type regedit and hit ENTER

2. Navigate to the following key in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\policies\system

On the right side pane look for “legalnoticecaption“, double click on it and enter the desired Legal Notice Caption.

3. Next below this look for “legalnoticetext” and enter the desired Legal Notice Text. The legal notice text can be up to a page in it’s size so that it can include a set of do’s and dont’s for your computer.

4. After you do this just restart your computer and upon the next startup you can see the legal notice information for your computer. This trick works on both XP and Vista. You can also try it on Windows 7 and should work with no problems.

Examples of such sites are Windows Magazine, .Net Magazine, Nature, and many, many newspapers around the globe.

Information Gathering through USB drives

There are few ways to Hack Passwords using a USB Drive or Pen Drive.
Here is one of them..

Create an autorun.inf file on the root of your flash drive/Pendrive with the following contents:

Save both file and you are good to go. Now whenever a user plugs your pendrive into their PC,it will display an autoplay option indicating that they have to click on the icon to open the drive to view its contents. A small DOS window will flash for a moment and then disappear.Now If you go into the root of the drive, you will find a new file called users.dat which will record the user names of all the users who have accessed your drive by clicking on the icon. You can open the DAT file using notepad and view its contents.

However..This is not a fool proof method as some geeks disable the autoplay option (or disable writing to USB drives) ,or they just bypass it by pressing RIGHT SHIFT key when the pendrive is connected and hence their name will not be recorded or they can delete the users.dat file. But that said,it will work fine nevertheless......

Alternatively, you can also use a Software USB HACK, but that will give you some problems as your Anti-Virus will keep deleting it.

And turning off anti-virus, specially when you are doing this kind of work, is highly not recommended.

2. Tim Berners-Lee
This inventor of the World Wide Web was caught hacking into Oxford files while he was a student at the university. He was then banned from the university. Eventually, he ended up working at CERN Laboratories, a European nuclear research organization. While there, he figured out a way to send hypertext through a network. At that point, the Internet as we know it was born.

3. Stephen Wozniak
While he is known known for being one of the co-founders of computer giant Apple Computer, Stephen Wozniak once made blue boxes to bypass telephone switching mechanisms. In this way, the user could get free long distance coverage. He was caught when he started selling the blue boxes to classmates.

After dropping out of college, Wozniak collaborated with his friend, Steve Jobs, to build the first Apple personal computers in their garage. The rest, as they say, is history.

Black Hat

1. Kevin Mitnick
Described by the Department of Justice as “the most wanted computer criminal in United States History,” Mitnick hacked into corporate computers, stole designs and product information, hacked the Los Angeles bus punch card system, and scrambled phones. He was eventually captured when he hacked into the computer of fellow hacker Tsutomu Shimomura. Shimomura then made it his mission to find Mitnick, and soon afterward Mitnick was in custody.

Today, he runs a computer security-consulting firm and has authored several books.

2. Robert Tappan Morris
The Morris Worm was the first such virus to be introduced to the Internet. While studying at Cornell, Morris wrote the code and released it. He claimed that he was only trying to see how large the Internet was. Unfortunately, the worm caused at least 6,000 computers to become unusable.

Three years of probation, 400 hours of community service, and $10,500.00 later, Morris had paid his debt to society. He now works as a tenured MIT professor.

3. Jonathan James
At 16 years of age, James was the youngest hacker to ever be sent to prison. The mot notable of his offenses was a back door he installed in a Defense Threat Reduction Agency server. This backdoor allowed him to access some e-mail correspondence as well as to isolate the usernames and passwords of key government employees. He also hacked into NASA’s computer system and stole technological information worth $1.7 million. To remove the inserted code, NASA had to shut down their computers. This cost them $41,000.00

James was sentenced to six months of house arrest, but was sent to prison for six months when he violated parole.

iDisplay Extends Windows And Mac PC Display Screen On iPhone/iPad

Apple’s iPad is so popular now as a great companion tablet PC or even being used as home centralized control system or merely as an expensive Digital Photo frame. With its relatively large screen size, have you ever wonder how you can use it as an extended secondary display? Now with the help of apps named as iDisplay, users can easily transform the famous iPad into external display via WiFi connection.
For the start, there are two apps that need to be installed on both your laptop and iPad. And since Apple iPhone doesn’t come with standard Ethernet port, users will have to establish the link between both through WiFi, so that the desktop screen can be shared just like having additional secondary screen in extended mode.
Once installed and launched the program at both ends (with WiFi connection turned ON), a message with available lists of computers will be prompted. Tap on the respective PC name will connect both with extended display ready to be used. Since iPad is capacitive touch based and so there is a bit tricky to use it as your mouse cursor on the secondary display (iPad screen) will not be displayed correctly. Some simple tips here: Just tap on your iPad screen with two fingers will show keyboard and application menu. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in your windowsXP,Vista or 7. (if C is the windows directory)

As you might have all known by now that hosts file does not have an extension and so you might be wondering as to how to open it.To open the HOSTS file drag it into a notepad or rightclick>open with>notepad.. It will look like the image I have put in.

BLOCKING WEBSITES
To block a website. Simply put
127.0.0.1     www.example.com

Replace example with the website you desire. For e.g if you want to block facebook,myspace and orkut you need to type
127.0.0.1    www.facebook.com
127.0.0.1    www.myspace.com

127.0.0.1    www.orkut.com

Now save the file. You are done. Whenever you type these websites in your browser it will display an error "The page cannot be displayed".

REDIRECTING WEBSITES

If you want to redirect google to yahoo,you need to know the IP address of google. For this you need to type ping www.google.com in command prompt. That will give you the IP address which is 209.85.231.104
Now in you hosts file you need to type

209.85.231.104     www.yahoo.com

So whenever you type www.google.com in your browser it will open www.yahoo.com.

This can be used for hacking also. Think how??? :) :)

What is a hosts file?

Hi friends!! I am back with yet another interesting post! Many of you might have heard about the hosts file isn't it? Well actually The short answer is that the Hosts file is like an address book. When you type an address like www.yahoo.com into your browser, the Hosts file is consulted to see if you have the IP address, or "telephone number," for that site. If you do, then your computer will "call it" and the site will open. If not, your computer will ask your ISP's (internet service provider) computer for the phone number before it can "call" that site. Most of the time, you do not have addresses in your "address book," because you have not put any there. Therefore, most of the time your computer asks for the IP address from your ISP to find sites.

If you put ad server names into your Hosts file with your own computer's IP address, your computer will never be able to contact the ad server. It will try to, but it will be simply calling itself and get a "busy signal" of sorts. Your computer will then give up calling the ad server and no ads will be loaded, nor will any tracking take place. Your choices for blocking sites are not just limited to blocking ad servers. You may block sites that serve advertisements, sites that serve objectionable content, or any other site that you choose to block.

I hope, almost everybody familiar to the computer might have an idea as to how to hide a folder.Today I am going to tell you how to make a file that is invisible which means it does not have an attribute that is hidden.It actually stays there but becomes invisible. Confused!! Let me tell you how..

Make a new folder and name it as Alt+0160(Numpad). You will see that the folder is created but has no name. Now you can still see the icon. I hope many of you know how to change the icon. Right Click on the folder and go to Properties and Customize tab. There you will find Change Icon.Click on it . Scroll Right and you will find a blank icon.Click there and whoosh!! You have your invisible folder. To find it and access it drag your mouse on the screen.By doing this you will find that a small square in blue colour is selected. Click on the square. You can now access it.

To make an empty file goto command prompt. Start>Run and type cmd. or Win+R. Once you are in the command prompt, type
fsutil file createnew <filename> <size in bytes>
to create a file name with a specific extension,type
fsutil file createnew <filename.extension> <size in bytes>

for example if u want to create a file called hello.txt of size 5 mb, first convert 5mb to bytes which will be 5*1024*1024 bytes.
So you need to type fsutil file createnew hello.txt 5242880.
If you forgot to mention the extension you can always do that by typing ren hello hello.txt.

I suppose you have got an idea of Space Eater Virus. Try to make out how to make it on yourselves or wait for my next post and you will get your answers.I will show you how to do it.You also got an idea of fake files and how those dirty uploaders do it but dont do it yourselves while uploading torrents.

Make your own .exe files

Guys! I am sure many of you might have had previous experiences with batch files(.bat) or visual basic scripts(.vbs). Many of you might have wondered as to how could you convert it to exe files. exe files dont only look standard, they have become a standard platform for software distribution. Moreover it protects your scripting to be copied or modified. It is a well known fact that .bat files can be easily read and modified in notepad and so is the case with .vbs. In this post i would explain how to convert your .bat files or .vbs files to .exe and that to without using any third party softwares..

There is a very good tool inside windows called IExpress 2.0. It is actually located in C:\Windows\System32. But you can access it by typing iexpress or iexpress.exe in Start>Run(or Win+R).

1. Click on Next.
2. Next you will be presented with the Package Purpose screen. For our purposes select “Extract Files and run an installation command” and click the Next button.You will be presented with the Package Title screen, which will give you the opportunity to give your project a name.
3. You will next be presented with the Confirmation Prompt Screen. We would like the batch file to just be extracted and run so just choose “No Prompt” and click the Next Button.If you want some prompt for the user before your .bat comes into action u can do that.
4. You always see long license agreements in software distribution packages.. You can do that here in the screen you are presented with.
5. The Packaged Files window is where you will select your batch file (or .vbs). Click the Add button and browse to your desired file. Then click next.

6. Here you are presented with a window titled Install Program to Launch. Use the drop down control next to “Install Program and choose the only option that will be present, the .bat or .vbs file that you chose in the previous window. The Show Window screen is next. I didn’t want my users to be prompted in any way so I chose Hidden. Click Next.
7. Select a finish message if u would like.
8. The Package Name and Options window is where the new .exe specified. Type in a path or browse to the folder you would like your .exe in, type a name in the file name box and click save. Also check the box that says “Hide File Extraction Progress Animation from User.” If you’re worried about long file names go ahead and click the other box as well.
9.Since we really aren’t installing anything we probably want to tell the Configure Restart window to not restart. So choose the option that says “No restart” and hit Next.
10. This window is where you have a chance to save all of the options you have chosen into a project file so that if necessary you may later return and make modifications. I have no need to retain the file, but if you would like to be able to come back to it, by all means choose “Save Self Extraction Directive (SED) file” and tell it where to put it. As always, click Next.

To restart computer type shutdown -r -t 300 -c " your message"
The number after -t is the number of seconds countdown there will be before shutdown . After -c write own message , that will come up when shutdown box pops up.

3. Type the name for the shortcut and click on finish.
4. After this will appear icon on desktop, when someone clicks it, shutdown box will pop up.

5.How can I stop system shutdown ? Go to Start->Run , then open cmd,write shutdown -a and press ENTER on keyboard, as shown below.

Does the above program run without the main function? Yes, the above program runs perfectly fine even without a main function. But how, whats the logic behind it? How can we have a C program working without main?
Here we are using preprocessor directive #define with arguments to give an impression that the program runs without main. But in reality it runs with a hidden main function.
The ‘##‘ operator is called the token pasting or token merging operator. That is we can merge two or more characters with it.
A Preprocessor is program which processess the source code before compilation.

Look at the 2nd line of program -
#define decode(s,t,u,m,p,e,d) m##s##u##t

What is the preprocessor doing here. The macro decode(s,t,u,m,p,e,d) is being expanded as “msut” (The ## operator merges m,s,u & t into msut). The logic is when you pass (s,t,u,m,p,e,d) as argument it merges the 4th,1st,3rd & the 2nd characters(tokens).

Now look at the third line of the program -
#define begin decode(a,n,i,m,a,t,e)

Here the preprocessor replaces the macro “begin” with the expansion decode(a,n,i,m,a,t,e). According to the macro definition in the previous line the argument must be expanded so that the 4th,1st,3rd & the 2nd characters must be merged. In the argument (a,n,i,m,a,t,e) 4th,1st,3rd & the 2nd characters are ‘m’,'a’,'i’ & ‘n’.

So the third line “int begin” is replaced by “int main” by the preprocessor before the program is passed on for the compiler. That’s it…

The bottom line is there can never exist a C program without a main function. Here we are just playing a gimmick that makes us beleive the program runs without main function, but actually there exists a hidden main function in the program. Here we are using the proprocessor directive to intelligently replace the word begin” by “main”. In simple words int begin=int main.

4. Now open the Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> Type regedit) and navigate to the following key

6. Now log-off to see the new logon screen background. If you would like to revert back to the default background, just set the Value Data back to 0.

Apple unveils iPhone 4 with 720p HD Recording

Apple CEO Steve Jobs kick-started the Worldwide Developers Conference 2010 in San Francisco with the announcement of the next generation iPhone model - iPhone 4. After the infamous Gizmodo and Vietnamese iPhone 4 leak, Apple has stuck to its plans and announced the fourth generation iPhone model. Just like the first generation iPhone was killed when the iPhone 3G was launched, the iPhone 3G will be sold no more. The iPhone 3GS would be sold for $99 with a two years contract.

Clad with wonderful new features, Apple will start selling iPhone 4 starting at $199 with a two years contract in U.S. from June 24. The iPhone 4 would be available in a 16GB version costing $199 and 32GB version costing $299. Before we start off with the details of the iPhone 4, let's get one thing straight about the operating system. Apple has renamed the iPhone OS 4.0 for iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch devices to iOS4. From June 21, the iOS4 upgrade will be available free for all devices.

Design:

The all new iPhone 4 is just 9.3mm thick and is 24 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS. It's pretty much similar to what we saw in the leaked photos that soared on the web. On the top, the iPhone 4 has a 3.5mm headset jack, secondary mic and the sleep-wake up button. At the bottom, the iPhone 4 sports the primary mic, speaker and Apple's proprietary 30-pin connector port. Of course we have the volume controls on the sides.

Design-wise, Apple drops the rounded hinds design and adopts box like structure for the new iPhone 4 model. Apple has used stainless steel rims for binding the iPhone 4 body. These rims have integrated antennas and act as bonding agents to hold two glass panels on the front and the back of the iPhone 4.

With the new iPhone 4, Apple debuts new display dubbed as 'Retina Display'. This 3.5-inch multi-touch display offers 960x640 pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch. This means crisper images and more amazing graphics display while playing games. Apart from that, this IPS technology based panel will offer 800:1 contrast ratio that would be four times better than the previous generation iPhone devices.

So, you can comfortably watch 720p HD movies on this 960x640 pixel display with more accurate colors. Apart from that, both front display and back panel would come coated with fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating.

Processor:

If you can recollect the mysterious Apple A4 System-on-Chip processor used in the iPad, you won't be surprised to discover that Apple has used the same A4 processor on the iPhone 4. Apple claims that this chip is power efficient and hence conserves power to add up to the battery life.

Camera:

Apple has added 5 megapixel sensor with backside illuminated sensor and LED Flash. This new camera will also offer five times digital zoom and tap to focus options. Not only that, this 5 megapixel camera sensor is capable of recording 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. The LED Flash will stay illuminated for recording better quality picture in videos.

The iPhone 4 has a front facing camera that enables video calling dubbed as FaceTime that works even when the Wi-Fi is turned off. No setup or installation is required as FaceTime works out of the box. Apple has built FaceTime using a bunch of open standards like SIP (Session Initiation Protoco), H.264, AAC and so on.

Apple will also introduce new iMovie for iPhone app for video editing that will include options like scene transitions, themes, editable titles, and much more. This app will be available at a price of $5 after iOS4 is rolled out to everyone.

Will iPhone 4 turn out to be a killer of Flip Mino HD and the likes? We'll wait and see.

Gyroscope:

Apple has added three-axis gyroscope, a device maintaining orientation or measuring it based on the rotation mechanism of the object. This, clubbed with Accelerometer on the iPhone 4 makes it capable of 6-axis motion sensing. This is similar to Sony PlayStation 3's game controller which has gyroscopic motion sensing. It's quite possible that in the near future, we may see touchscreen apps supplementing the game controllers.

Battery life:

One of the major issues of all the iPhone users has been the battery life and hence, Apple has put a larger battery in the iPhone 4. The lithium-ion rechargeable battery promises to offer up to 7 hours of talk time on 3G networks and 14 hours of talk time on 2G networks. Also, one can listen to music for 40 hours or watch videos for up to 10 hours. The most amazing part is that users can now browser mobile web for up to 10 hours on the iPhone 4, that is as much as offered by new Intel Atom Pine Trail platform based netbooks.

Since Apple would be using iPhone 4's outer rims as a part of its antenna system, the company has come out with its own set of cases to protect the iPhone. NEW DELHI: Finnish cellphone maker Nokia has launched a low-priced handset X2 in the Indian market.

The candybar X2 sports a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and weighs 81 grams. The phone packs dual speakers, dedicated music keys, FM stereo and support for up to 16GB of storage via microSD card.

Other key features include Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB 2.0. The phone runs on Nokia's proprietary S40 OS.

X2 also offers direct access to Facebook from the homescreen and comes with Nokia Messaging for email and Instant Messaging. Other notable feature include instant access to apps from Ovi Store, a 5 megapixel camera and a video recorder.

The phone is priced at Rs 5,000 and is likely to be available from June.

Nokia last week unveiled details of its first phone N8 with new Symbian 3 software, designed to challenge the iPhone and Blackberry at the high-end of the market.

The company cut its profit outlook and delayed the sales launch of Symbian 3 phones until the third quarter, sending its shares sharply lower. "Nokia is reacting to the fire alarm," said Swedbank analyst Jari Honko.

Nokia, which has yet to show the phone to journalists or analysts, is counting on the new software to start clawing back market share lost to the company's new rivals.

However, analysts said the new model and software upgrade at best put Nokia on par with features already available to consumers of Google's Android software, or Sony Ericsson, which has sold a 12-megapixel camera phone since 2009.

"Symbian 3 is evolutionary not revolutionary, but N8, if reliable, is a first step in efforts to make Nokia's high-end phones credible again," said Ben Wood, head of research at CCS Insight.

The new N8 flagship model will have a 12 megapixel camera, 3.5-inch touchscreen and retail for 370 euros ($493), excluding subsidies and taxes, Nokia said in a press release.

Analysts said it was unclear how much of an impact the phone will have on third-quarter results as it goes on sale only in selected markets during the quarter.

Sachin Tendulkar sugar-coated the recent reality of India and gave its people something to cheer about. It is not easy to possess the mandate to lift the spirits of such a large nation, but he has done that consistently. The comparison with Sir Donald Bradman is not restricted to his batting alone. Like the great man who brought cheer to post-war Australia, Tendulkar allowed India to momentarily forget fires and bombs and inflation and terrorist threats. It was like that with the century he made after England so graciously agreed to tour after the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. It has been like that for a long time. For better or worse cricket is more than a sport in India; Tendulkar is more than just a cricketer. Where our elected representatives callously fritter away the mandate people give them, Tendulkar has stayed true to it.

And he has never forgotten why he started playing the game in the first place. The best have lofty ambitions when they begin but soon commerce, like a tenacious worm, gnaws into them. Fame surrounds them and prevents the fresh air of reason from breaking through. They acquire sycophants, that great curse of success. Playing the game becomes a means to a seemingly superior, but in reality hollower, end. Tendulkar has kept those demons at bay. He has made more money than anyone else in the game, acquired greater fame than is imaginable, but you could never guess that from the way he plays his cricket. He remains the servant, pursues the game with purity. Through the last decade India have been well-served by like-minded giants.

And he works as hard as anybody has. Lance Armstrong once said that he wins the Tour de France not when he is cycling down the Champs Elysees but when he is out in the mountains facing icy winds while others are cosying in their blankets for an extra hour. Two years ago Tendulkar realised that his future lay in the way his body coped; that eventually his body rather than a bowler would get him. During the first IPL, as he struggled with a groin injury, he admitted that he found continuous rehab very difficult to live with. Once fit, he was like the child again, able to do what he wanted without worrying about whether his body was accomplice or traitor. And so he trained harder and rested well. You could see the effect as he scampered between wickets. Tendulkar's delightful second wind is the result of what you and I have not seen: hours in the gym and in training.

As a result, Tendulkar's endgame is nowhere in sight. He is peeling off centuries like he did in his prime. The old air of predictability is still around; he is grinding his way through when needed, clobbering the ball when required. In this extraordinary long-distance race he is running, this looks like a mid-race burst rather than the finishing kick his age suggests it should be.

So why has no one else scored a double-century in limited-overs cricket so far? Well, because it is very difficult for a start. Assuming 300 balls, you should expect to get no more than 150, which means you need to bat at a strike-rate of 133. You need to be mentally alert, because one casual shot, one moment of disrespect, could be your undoing. But, let's admit, the combination of pitches, outfields and boundary ropes has rarely tilted the balance so much in the batsman's favour. In Gwalior the groundsman told one half of the class they were not wanted. The bowlers were the extras in a movie, seeking, at best, a talking part. The stage had been prepared for Tendulkar but he still had to deliver an unforgettable performance.

Inevitably the question will be asked: what next? We know there is only one thing he genuinely covets, and that is not in his hands. In 12 months Tendulkar hopes to play his sixth and last World Cup. So far his relationship with the World Cup has been like that of a child who scurries to the rossogulla shop only to find it shut every time. If he was a golfer seeking a Masters win or a tennis player hoping to win another Grand Slam, he could plan for it but he doesn't hold the key to a win in a team sport. It must happen, he cannot make it happen. But what else? Frankly, I don't care.

Tendulkar's journey is about joy and purity and a landmark is merely a comfort stop...........

AMD Finally Rolls Out the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6

Back when AMD announced its new Radeon HD 5xxx series of GPUs, the Sunnyvale, California-based graphics chip maker also introduced its new Eyefinity technology, a solution that would enable Radeon HD 5xxx users to enjoy a different visual experience on their cards. On that note, today the company is launching the Eyefinity 6, a Radeon HD 5870 graphics card that has been equipped with no less than 2GB of memory and 6 DisplayPorts. According to AMD, the card is capable of rendering in excess of 1 billion pixels per second in today's titles.

“The ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics card opens the door to a new era in personal computing,” said Matt Skynner, vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics Division. “With the ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition, PC users get the ultimate panoramic computing experience in one powerful card. By bridging the innovation in ATI Eyefinity technology with broad ecosystem support, AMD is revolutionizing the PC visual experience.”

The specifications of the card are pretty much in line with those that are available on the standard version of AMD's Radeon HD 5870. There's a Cypress GPU clocked at 850MHz, coupled with 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1.2GHz and 1600 Stream Processing units. There's the same support for DirectX 11 5.0, DirectCompute 11, Shader Model 5.0 and OpenGL 3.2. In fact, the major difference that can be noticed on the new card from AMD is the 6 DisplayPort connectors that will enable consumers to set up a large Eyefinity 6 configuration.

Unfortunately, there are no details regarding the pricing and availability of this card, but be sure to keep a close eye on the upcoming release from the company's board partners. In addition, take notice of the new Catalyst 10.3 drivers suite, which adds a number of enhancements and new features that have been specifically designed for the Eyefinity technology.

Apple's next-gen, dual-core iPhone could debut in April

The Korea Times claimed Tuesday that sources at KT said the new phone would have an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, would feature video chat functionality, and a removable battery is "highly likely." The report also said the new iPhone would include dual-core processors, more powerful graphics capabilities, and a superior camera.

Talks over initial sales have reportedly been under way at KT, which plans to sell the fourth-generation device to corporate clients in April as a "litmus test." Local distributors would allegedly receive the new device in June, which would represent the typical timeframe for an iPhone launch.

The Times quoted a "high ranking KT executive" as saying that Apple and the wireless provider have reached "a broad consensus to introduce the advanced models as early as possible."

If true, multi-core support for the new iPhone would likely come in the form of the new Cortex-A9 processor design from ARM. The new processors are capable of breaking the 2GHz barrier.

Last week, AppleInsider reported that Apple has moved to purchase significant quantities of LED camera flash components. These could be used to improve both picture and quality in low-light situations.

Last year, rumors said Apple was testing RFID swipe support in new iPhone prototypes. Radio-Frequency Identification is a technology that allows a device to sense embedded chips in nearby objects without making direct contact or without visible light. It could allow users to use their phone as a credit card to swipe payments, or to swipe and obtain information from a kiosk.

Intel's 48-core processor debut

Intel debuted and demonstrated its Single-chip Cloud Computer (SCC) processor Wednesday. The processor has 48 cores--24 dual-core "tiles"--connected with a high-speed mesh network. Intel wants the experimental chip, at least 100 of which it'll distribute to researchers in 2010, to lead to new attempts to tackle multicore system and software design. Ultimately, Intel believes its aggressive multicore approach will be the way computers get enough power for tasks such as vision and speech comparable to what humans have. Intel Chief Technology Officer Justin Rattner showed off the SCC chip. Here he holds a silicon wafer of the processors at a press event in San Francisco. The processor consumes between 25 and 125 watts of power--the numbers from Rattner's slide presentation projected on the wafer. Intel had two SCC prototype computers on display. Because the SCC chips use ordinary x86 processor cores, regular software such as Windows and Linux can run on them. The SCC systems can accommodate up to 64GB of memory, but this machine had 16GB. Intel's SCC chip's x86 cores each are comparable in power to the lower-end Atom line used in Netbooks today. Intel expects programmers eventually will have to reckon with many more cores. That's an issue that the computing industry is struggling to adjust to because most PC software is geared to perform a single sequence of instructions, not many things in parallel. Each node on the SCC chip includes two x86 cores with its own memory cache. Linking them to the outside world is router circuitry that handles networking on the chip. The network lets processors exchange information and communicate with any of four DDR3 memory banks.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Google on Tuesday announced the Nexus One, the latest mobile handset to come with the Android operating system. It begins shipping this week and runs either $179 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile, or $529 unlocked.

The Nexus One comes with plenty of goodies, including two cables to charge it: a USB cord and an AC adapter. Users also get a neoprene sleeve, and headphones with a built-in microphone.

The Nexus One comes with a removable 1,400mAh battery. The inside of the battery compartment also houses a microSD card slot, along with a slot for a SIM card. Included is 4GB of storage, although it can be expanded up to 32GB.

The metallic area below the battery compartment can also be personalized at the time of purchase.
The Nexus One has its own special logo at boot. For us, the average boot was a little under 40 seconds.
The Nexus One packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash. Like some other Android phones it can also shoot video, alongside still shots.
The Nexus One is a hair thinner than the iPhone, although slightly taller.
The Nexus One and the iPhone have similar tops, with a standard headphone jack and a sleep button.

Great Tips for FIREFOX

Everybody’s favorite open-source browser, Firefox, is great right out of the box. And by adding some of the awesome extensions available out there, the browser just gets better and better.

But look under the hood, and there are a bunch of hidden (and some not-so-secret) tips and tricks available that will crank Firefox up and pimp your browser. Make it faster, cooler, more efficient. Get to be a Jedi master with the following cool Firefox tricks.

1) More screen space. Make your icons small. Go to View - Toolbars - Customize and check the “Use small icons” box

2) Smart keywords. If there’s a search you use a lot (let’s say IMDB.com’s people search), this is an awesome tool that not many people use. Right-click on the search box, select “Add a Keyword for this search”, give the keyword a name and an easy-to-type and easy-to-remember shortcut name (let’s say “actor”) and save it. Now, when you want to do an actor search, go to Firefox’s address bar, type “actor” and the name of the actor and press return. Instant search! You can do this with any search box.

3) Keyboard shortcutsThis is where you become a real Jedi. It just takes a little while to learn these, but once you do, your browsing will be super fast. Here are some of the most common (and my personal favs):
* Spacebar (page down)
* Shift-Spacebar (page up)
* Ctrl+F (find)
* Alt-N (find next)
* Ctrl+D (bookmark page)
* Ctrl+T (new tab)
* Ctrl+K (go to search box)
* Ctrl+L (go to address bar)
* Ctrl+= (increase text size)
* Ctrl+- (decrease text size)
* Ctrl-W (close tab)* F5 (reload)

4) Auto-completeThis is another keyboard shortcut, but it’s not commonly known and very useful. Go to the address bar (Control-L) and type the name of the site without the “www” or the “.com”. Let’s say “google”. Then press Control-Enter, and it will automatically fill in the “www” and the “.com” and take you there - like magic! For .net addresses, press Shift-Enter, and for .org addresses, press Control-Shift-Enter.

5) Tab navigation.Instead of using the mouse to select different tabs that you have open, use the keyboard. Here are the shortcuts:* Ctrl+Tab (rotate forward among tabs)* Ctrl+Shft+Tab (rotate to the previous tab)* Ctrl+1-9 (choose a number to jump to a specific tab)

6) Mouse shortcuts.Sometimes you’re already using your mouse and it’s easier to use a mouse shortcut than to go back to the keyboard. Master these cool ones:* Middle click on link (opens in new tab)* Shift-scroll down (previous page)* Shift-scroll up (next page)* Ctrl-scroll up (decrease text size)* Ctrl-scroll down (increase text size)* Middle click on a tab (closes tab)

7) Delete items from address bar history.Firefox’s ability to automatically show previous URLs you’ve visited, as you type, in the address bar’s drop-down history menu is very cool. But sometimes you just don’t want those URLs to show up (I won’t ask why). Go to the address bar (Ctrl-L), start typing an address, and the drop-down menu will appear with the URLs of pages you’ve visited with those letters in them. Use the down-arrow to go down to an address you want to delete, and press the Delete key to make it disappear.

8) User chrome.If you really want to trick out your Firefox, you’ll want to create a UserChrome.css file and customize your browser. It’s a bit complicated to get into here, but check out this tutorial.

9) Create a user.js file. Another way to customize Firefox, creating a user.js file can really speed up your browsing. You’ll need to create a text file named user.js in your profile folder (see this to find out where the profile folder is) and see this example user.js file that you can modify. Created bytechlifeweb.com, this example explains some of the things you can do in its comments.

10) about:config.The true power user’s tool, about.config isn’t something to mess with if you don’t know what a setting does. You can get to the main configuration screen by putting about:config in the browser’s address bar. See Mozillazine’s about:config tips and screenshots.

11) Add a keyword for a bookmark.Go to your bookmarks much faster by giving them keywords. Right-click the bookmark and then select Properties. Put a short keyword in the keyword field, save it, and now you can type that keyword in the address bar and it will go to that bookmark.

12) Speed up Firefox.If you have a broadband connection (and most of us do), you can use pipelining to speed up your page loads. This allows Firefox to load multiple things on a page at once, instead of one at a time (by default, it’s optimized for dialup connections). Here’s how:
* Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Type “network.http” in the filter field, and change the following settings (double-click on them to change them):
* Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
* Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
* Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to a number like 30. This will allow it to make 30 requests at once.
* Also, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

13) Limit RAM usage.If Firefox takes up too much memory on your computer, you can limit the amount of RAM it is allowed to us. Again, go to about:config, filter “browser.cache” and select “browser.cache.disk.capacity”. It’s set to 50000, but you can lower it, depending on how much memory you have. Try 15000 if you have between 512MB and 1GB ram

14) Reduce RAM usage further for when Firefox is minimized.This setting will move Firefox to your hard drive when you minimize it, taking up much less memory. And there is no noticeable difference in speed when you restore Firefox, so it’s definitely worth a go. Again, go to about:config, right-click anywhere and select New-> Boolean. Name it “config.trim_on_minimize” and set it to TRUE. You have to restart Firefox for these settings to take effect.

15) Move or remove the close tab button.Do you accidentally click on the close button of Firefox’s tabs? You can move them or remove them, again through about:config. Edit the preference for “browser.tabs.closeButtons”. Here are the meanings of each value:
* 0: Display a close button on the active tab only
* 1:(Default) Display close buttons on all tabs
* 2:Don’t display any close buttons
* 3:Display a single close button at the end of the tab bar (Firefox 1.x behavior)

Sony XPERIA X3 to be Launched in February 2010

XPERIA X3, also known as Rachael and sporting an interface (or concept) pictured here is a very hot Android smartphone, that packs a 4 inch touchscreen display with a huge resolution. There’s also a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU on board and an 8 megapixel camera at the back, plus a 3.5mm headset jack.
We’ll see if the real device looks as good as these renders, that once again confirm the fact that the phone will be available in both black and white.
